the absence of mental stress or anxiety

Reiki is not a beauty treatment, it goes much deeper than that. It is about Holistic Health. The surroundings where I practice complement this.

Hi, my name is Joanne Potts I started  my career working part time in the health and leisure industry, whilst studying for a B-tec National Diploma in Beauty Therapy. I particularly enjoyed the health, fitness and relaxation aspects of the course. In 1995 I qualified as a Fitness Instructor which I then practiced for 10 years. A few years later I found myself going through one of life's emotional traumas and a friend recommended this ’new’ relaxation treatment called Reiki. I immediately felt that I got so much emotional support from it that I decided to delve a little bit deeper. That was 6 years ago and I am now a Reiki Master / Teacher. I fully believe that Reiki has changed my life and helped my personal development on a holistic level, other aspects of my life have then fallen into place.

Reiki is often described as a ‘Holistic’ Therapy i.e. works on the body as a whole– mental, emotional, spiritual and physical levels. The energy very much goes to where it is needed and the client takes on board as much as they can assimilate at the given time. It is a subtle, yet powerful energy.

Although people are  becoming more aware of the benefits of Reiki, it is still relatively unknown in west in comparison to the other ‘holistics’ like acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy and yoga. Most talk of Meridians or Chakras i.e. energy flow around the body. Far from being new, Reiki has been practiced for centuries by many cultures . It was only given the name ‘Reiki’ by Dr. Usui  a Japanese Christian Educator who re-discovered  this method of natural healing in the late 19th century.

REI - Universal   KI - Life-force or Energy

Reiki is a ‘Complementary‘ Therapy i.e. can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine.
